Welcome to arlington FM church!

We’re glad you are here and would love to have you join us on our journey toward God and His best for our lives. Here is a bit about more about us:

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to glorify God by carrying on the mission of Jesus.

"As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you."

John 20:21

Our Mission

Our mission is to reach people with the love and hope of Jesus and inspire them to join us in becoming genuinely devoted followers of His.

"Go and make disciples of all nations…."

Matthew 28:19

Our Vision

God is growing us into a healthy, loving, extended family of maturing Christ-followers whom He can use to reach our community and our world through life-giving relationships. Following Jesus and empowered by His Spirit, we are on a journey together: growing spiritually, connecting relationally, praying expectantly, giving generously, living joyfully, serving passionately, and increasing in numbers as God uses our love and service to reach others.

"They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer...and the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved."

Acts 2:42-47

Some of Our Core Values

We are God-centered. We seek to honor God in all that we do as we pursue Christ and His purpose for our lives together.

We are committed to a Jesus-centric understanding of the Scriptures. We believe the entire Bible intends to lead us toward faith and intimacy with Christ, guide our development into His likeness, and direct us toward accomplishing His purpose. Therefore we are committed to rightly dividing the truth in ways that lead us into a more genuine relationship with Jesus Christ, more sincere responsiveness to His Lordship, and more passionate engagement in His mission.

We are relationally focused. We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of our lives together and be the hallmark of our efforts to honor Jesus and reach others with His good news.

We believe that life change happens best in small groups; therefore, we seek to be a church of small groups, not a church with small groups. We believe "circles are better than rows" and that "no one stands alone." Our goal is to connect everyone in a Christ-centered small group community where they can experience fellowship, grow toward maturity, and develop their God-given abilities to serve the mission of Jesus.

We are outreach-oriented. We believe that lost people matter to God and that God's desire is for us to participate with "the Lord of the Harvest" to reach as many people as possible with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. We also believe that growing in Christ-likeness is impossible without "taking up our cross" for Christ's sake and "losing our lives for the sake of the gospel." Giving ourselves to reach others is what Jesus meant when He said, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." We believe that living as servants to all people to demonstrate the self-giving love of Christ is the pathway to Christian maturity.

We are dedicated to learning and practicing Biblical hospitality—God's unmerited love, acceptance, and forgiveness for strangers (people outside our usual circle of relationships). Making room in our friendships for new people is the most critical thing we can do to "freely give" the love we have freely received from God. Extending our company and opening our lives to "new others" follows the example of Jesus. He left heaven to live among us, touch the lepers, eat and drink with sinners, befriend the ostracized, call us all his brothers and sisters, and love us back to God. He calls us to do the same and thereby prove that we are indeed His children.

Our current direction and emphasis as a congregation is described in Paul's Letter to the Colossians Chapter 1:9-12

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

4 points of emphasis we are asking God to make real in the lives of everyone associated with Arlington FM are that we would be:

  1. Bearing fruit in every good work (Growing in character and ministry effectiveness)

  2. Growing in the knowledge of God (Deepening their experience of God as revealed through Jesus and made real through the Holy Spirit)

  3. Being strengthened with all power (Areas of brokenness healed, relationships flourishing, ability to live and serve well)

  4. Giving joyful thanks to the Father (Genuinely happy and optimistic people who live as though Christ has made us rich in every way)

4 Practical Engagements we ask everyone committed to Arlington FM Church to make:

  1. Connect in a group

  2. Serve on a team

  3. Give a percentage

  4. Invite others
